How Does Sugar Reset Work? The Ideas Behind the Drops
Sugar Reset is meant to support insulin function and balanced blood sugar through chromium, gymnema and Panax ginseng.
One 1 mL serving holds 0.7 mcg of chromium and a 200 mg blend of 22 ingredients. Each idea comes from studies of single ingredients.

The short version
How is Sugar Reset supposed to work?
Sugar Reset mixes many plant extracts and nutrients, each studied for blood sugar or weight, into one daily dropper.
The bottle itself makes one claim, "Promotes Metabolic Balance". The sales page fills in the rest. It says the drops promote healthy insulin function, support balanced blood sugar levels and aid carbohydrate metabolism. Those are the seller's words, based on what single ingredients were studied for.
So the real question has two parts. Does each ingredient help blood sugar in people? And is there enough of it in 1 mL to matter?
Ingredient by ingredient
What does each main ingredient claim to do?
The sales page names six ingredients. The table covers the five with blood-sugar research, plus the caffeine source it does not name.
| Ingredient | The idea it is sold on | What human studies found | Dose used in studies |
|---|---|---|---|
| Chromium picolinate | Helps insulin do its job | Small drops in fasting glucose and A1C of unclear clinical meaning across 58 trials (NIH ODS: Chromium) | 200 to 1,000 mcg a day |
| Gymnema | Cuts how much sugar the gut takes up | Mild fasting-glucose drops; effect on diabetes not shown (LiverTox: Gymnema) | 400 mg three times a day |
| Panax ginseng | Helps cells take up glucose | Fasting glucose down 0.31 mmol/L in 16 trials; no change in A1C (Shishtar 2014 (ginseng meta-analysis)) | Mostly root, median 8 weeks |
| African mango | Weight and appetite | One small trial group, partly funded by the extract's seller (Ngondi 2009 (African mango trial)) | 150 mg twice a day |
| Green tea extract | Insulin sensitivity and weight | Small weight effect; glucose benefit not shown (NIH ODS: Supplements for weight loss) | 141 to 1,207 mg catechins a day |
| Guarana | Not explained on the sales page | A caffeine source; studied only in a 3-herb weight mix (NIH ODS: Supplements for weight loss) | Not published for blood sugar |
For ginseng, the trials used mostly the root. Sugar Reset lists "Panax Ginseng Aerial Extract", which means the leaf and stem. Results from root studies may not carry over.
The math
How much of each ingredient is in one serving?
Only chromium has a printed amount. Everything else shares 200 mg.
One serving is 1 mL. It holds 0.7 mcg of chromium, which is 2% of the Daily Value. It also holds a 200 mg proprietary blend of 22 ingredients. The law lets a blend show only its total weight and list ingredients from most to least (21 CFR 101.36 (proprietary blends)).
At the top label dose of 2 droppers, you get 400 mg of blend a day. If all 22 shared it evenly, each would come to about 18 mg. The real split is not published. Maca is listed first, so it is the largest part. Gymnema is eighth. Ginseng is twelfth.
A typical gymnema study dose is 1,200 mg a day, three times the whole daily blend. Even an all-gymnema blend would fall short.
Six on the box, 23 on the label
Why does the sales page show only six ingredients?
The brand's "Inside Sugarreset" graphic shows six tiles: chromium, gymnema, African mango, green tea, maca and Panax ginseng. The sales page also mentions "5 vital nutrients". The label lists 23 actives in all.
Guarana sits third in the blend. A licorice compound, grapefruit extract and coleus forskohlii are in there too. The marketing names none of them.
When the label and the sales page disagree, go by the label. The full list, typed out word for word, is on the Sugar Reset Supplement Facts page.

What else could the drops do in your body?
Some ingredients have effects that have nothing to do with the sales pitch.
Guarana and green tea
Both carry caffeine. The amount per serving is not printed. With only 200 mg of blend it is likely small, but it can still matter if you are sensitive or take the drops late in the day (FDA: How much caffeine is too much).
Licorice compound
Monoammonium glycyrrhizinate comes from licorice. Glycyrrhizin can raise blood pressure and upset heart rhythm, even in small amounts for people with heart or kidney disease (NCCIH: Licorice root).
Grapefruit extract
Grapefruit can let more of some statins and the blood pressure drug nifedipine into your blood. The amount in the blend is not printed (FDA: Grapefruit juice and drugs).
With your medicines
Does Sugar Reset work alongside metformin or insulin?
Nobody has studied Sugar Reset with any diabetes medicine. What is known comes from the single ingredients. Chromium may add to the effect of insulin and other diabetes drugs (NIH ODS: Chromium). Gymnema lowers blood sugar (LiverTox: Gymnema). Ginseng might too (NCCIH: Asian ginseng).
On insulin or a sulfonylurea such as glipizide, a low is a real risk with any added sugar-lowering product (NIDDK: Low blood glucose).
Never skip, cut or stop a diabetes medicine because you started drops. If you feel shaky, sweaty or confused, or your meter reads under 70 mg/dL, treat the low the way your care team taught you and call your doctor before the next dose (NIDDK: Low blood glucose).
More detail on each interaction is on the Sugar Reset side effects page.

Fasting glucose down 0.31 mmol/L, no effect on A1C. Mostly root, not leaf. (Shishtar 2014 (ginseng meta-analysis))
- GymnemaSmall human trials
Mild fasting-glucose drops; effect on diabetes not shown. (LiverTox: Gymnema)
- African mangoOne small trial group
102 adults for 10 weeks, same authors, partly seller-funded. (Ngondi 2009 (African mango trial))
- Sugar ResetNo study of the product

Bar length shows how directly each line of evidence answers the question: will these drops help my blood sugar? It is our editorial summary of the linked sources, not a score from any study. The American Diabetes Association does not recommend chromium or herbal supplements for glucose control.
No. No trial of this formula has been published. The strongest evidence is for chromium and ginseng, and both showed small or unclear effects at far higher doses. The American Diabetes Association's 2026 Standards of Care say chromium and herbal supplements are "not recommended for glycemic benefits" (ADA Standards of Care 2026, Section 5).
FAQ
How Sugar Reset works: common questions
How does Sugar Reset lower blood sugar?
It is not shown to. The sales page says ingredients such as chromium, gymnema and ginseng support balanced blood sugar, but those ideas come from single-ingredient studies at much higher doses. No study of Sugar Reset has been published, and it is not a diabetes treatment.
What is the main ingredient in Sugar Reset?
Maca root extract is listed first in the 200 mg blend, so it is the largest share by weight. Maca has a few small human trials, none on blood sugar. Chromium is the only ingredient with a printed amount: 0.7 mcg per 1 mL serving.
Why is guarana in Sugar Reset?
The sales page does not explain it. Guarana is a natural caffeine source and sits third in the blend. The label gives no caffeine figure. Keep doses away from bedtime and tell your doctor if caffeine affects your heart rate or blood pressure.
Is the ginseng in Sugar Reset the same as in studies?
Not quite. Most ginseng blood-sugar trials used the root. The Sugar Reset label lists Panax ginseng aerial extract, which comes from the leaf and stem. Results from root studies may not apply to the aerial parts.
Do liquid drops absorb better than capsules?
No study has compared Sugar Reset drops with capsules, so nobody can say. Drops are easy to take if you dislike swallowing pills. What is in the serving matters more than the form, and the amounts in one dropper are small.
