Chromium Picolinate in Sugar Reset: How Much Is in a Dropper and What Studies Found
Sugar Reset prints chromium, as chromium picolinate, at 0.7 mcg per 1 mL serving: 2% of the Daily Value. Two droppers give 1.4 mcg. Diabetes trials used 200 to 1,000 mcg a day and found small effects of unclear meaning. The American Diabetes Association does not recommend chromium for blood sugar control.

The basics
What is chromium picolinate, and why is it in Sugar Reset?
A trace mineral, here in its picolinate form.
Chromium is a mineral your body needs in tiny amounts. It is often linked with insulin, the hormone that moves sugar from your blood into your cells. That link is why chromium shows up in so many blood sugar products.
The Sugar Reset sales page puts it this way: chromium "works as a 'key' to help insulin enter your cells." That is the seller's description, not a study result. The label itself makes no chromium claim at all.
Chromium has a special place on the Sugar Reset label. It is the only ingredient listed on its own line, outside the proprietary blend, and the only one with a printed amount. Every other active shares the 200 mg blend.

Dose check
How much chromium is in Sugar Reset compared with studies?
About one three-hundredth of the lowest trial dose per serving.
Chromium figures come from the NIH fact sheet (NIH ODS: Chromium). Study doses for gymnema (LiverTox: Gymnema), African mango (Ngondi 2009 (African mango trial)) and forskolin (NIH ODS: Supplements for weight loss) are for one ingredient taken alone. Each one alone is close to or above the 400 mg that 2 droppers give for all 22 blend ingredients together.
| Daily intake from Sugar Reset | Share of 35 mcg Daily Value | Share of 200 mcg (low trial dose) | Share of 1,000 mcg (high trial dose) |
|---|---|---|---|
| 1 dropper: 0.7 mcg | 2% | 0.35% | 0.07% |
| 2 droppers: 1.4 mcg | 4% | 0.7% | 0.14% |
To reach the lowest trial dose from Sugar Reset alone, you would need about 286 servings in one day. That is close to five bottles. The label caps you at 2 droppers, and you should never try to make up the gap with extra drops.

What studies show
Does chromium lower blood sugar?
Sometimes a little, in some studies, at doses hundreds of times higher than Sugar Reset's.
The NIH Office of Dietary Supplements summarizes the research. A 2019 review of 58 trials found small drops in fasting glucose and A1C, and their clinical meaning was unclear. A 2016 review found no reason to recommend chromium for type 2 diabetes (NIH ODS: Chromium).
The NIH's center for complementary health calls the results conflicting (NCCIH Clinical Digest: Type 2 diabetes and supplements). The American Diabetes Association goes further. Its 2026 Standards of Care say chromium supplements are "not recommended for glycemic benefits" (ADA Standards of Care 2026, Section 5).
Say a 48-year-old woman just heard at her checkup that her A1C is 6.1%. Chromium in Sugar Reset is unlikely to change that number. The amount is too small to test the trial findings, and the trials themselves were mixed. Her food, movement and follow-up plan carry the weight.
A longer look at the trials is in our article on chromium and blood sugar.

Is chromium safe with metformin, insulin or thyroid medicine?
At 0.7 mcg, an effect either way is unlikely. The cautions below come from studies of much larger doses.
| Situation | What the NIH notes | At 0.7 to 1.4 mcg a day |
|---|---|---|
| Insulin or other diabetes medicines | May add to their effect and raise the chance of low blood sugar | Unlikely from chromium alone; other blend herbs also lower glucose |
| Levothyroxine | May reduce how much of the thyroid pill you absorb | Ask about spacing the two apart |
| Large doses | Rare kidney, liver, muscle and skin problems reported | Far below the doses linked to those reports |
Chromium is not the only ingredient to think about. Gymnema and Panax ginseng are also studied for lowering blood sugar, and their amounts are not printed. If you take glipizide, glimepiride or insulin, show the whole label to your doctor before the first dose.
Shaky, sweaty, confused, a racing heart or a meter reading under 70 mg/dL. Take 15 to 20 grams of fast sugar and recheck in 15 minutes. Seizures or passing out need 911 (NIDDK: Low blood glucose).

What should you ask your doctor about chromium in Sugar Reset?
- Do I already get chromium from a multivitamin, and does the total matter?
- Should I space the drops away from my levothyroxine?
- With my diabetes medicines, should I check my glucose more often at first?
- Is 1 dropper a day enough to tell if the other ingredients agree with me?
Bring the bottle, not a screenshot of an ad. The label lists all 23 actives; the ads list six. Dose rules are on Sugar Reset dosage.

FAQ
Chromium in Sugar Reset: common questions
How much chromium is in Sugar Reset?
Each 1 mL serving has 0.7 mcg of chromium, as chromium picolinate, which the label lists as 2% of the Daily Value. At the label maximum of 2 droppers a day, that comes to 1.4 mcg, or 4% of the 35 mcg Daily Value.
Can 0.7 mcg of chromium do anything?
Probably not, based on the research. Diabetes trials used 200 to 1,000 mcg a day, and even at those doses the effects on fasting glucose and A1C were small and of unclear meaning. Sugar Reset gives well under 1% of the lowest trial dose.
Can chromium picolinate cause low blood sugar?
In larger doses it may add to the effect of insulin and other diabetes medicines, the NIH says. At Sugar Reset's 0.7 mcg that is unlikely, but gymnema and ginseng in the blend may also lower glucose. If you take diabetes medicine, ask your doctor first.
Can I take chromium with levothyroxine?
Chromium may lower how much levothyroxine your body absorbs, according to the NIH fact sheet. The amount in Sugar Reset is tiny, but ask your doctor or pharmacist whether to take the drops at a different time from your thyroid pill.
Does the ADA recommend chromium for diabetes?
No. The American Diabetes Association's 2026 Standards of Care say supplements such as chromium are not recommended for glycemic benefits, because the evidence is not strong enough. Your prescribed plan stays the main tool for blood sugar.
Should I add a chromium pill to Sugar Reset to match the studies?
Do not do this on your own. Higher chromium doses carry the medicine interactions noted by the NIH, and the trial results at those doses were mixed. If you want to try chromium, discuss the dose with your doctor, with your full medicine list in hand.
